Most of the research of our group is<br \/>\nperformed at the University\u2019s 7-MV electrostatic accelerator;<br \/>\nhowever, we also perform experiments at larger facilities, such as<br \/>\nTRIUMF and HI\u03b3S. Related topics in nuclear spectroscopy, neutroninduced<br \/>\nreactions, and neutron scattering are the focus of our<br \/>\nresearch program, which includes selected studies in these forefront<br \/>\nareas.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>nuclear structure relevant to double-beta decay\n<li>nuclei undergoing shape transitions\n<li>collective excitations and shape coexistence\n<li>nuclear structure clues in searches for fundamental symmetries\n<li>precise and accurate neutron scattering cross sections for the development of advanced, high-temperature nuclear reactors<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe measurement of short lifetimes with the Doppler-shift<br \/>\nattenuation method (DSAM) following inelastic neutron scattering is<br \/>\ncrucial in many of these studies. We frequently work in collaboration<br \/>\nwith theorists and data evaluators.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThis appointment is for one year and is renewable for a second year.<br \/>\nThe successful candidate is expected to contribute to all activities of<br \/>\nthe laboratory and should have demonstrated expertise in nuclear<br \/>\nspectroscopy or cross section measurements.
